Seasons

Learn about the seasons the hands-on way. In this workshop participants will use LEGO bricks to build and share what they know about the current season; leading to a discussion on weather changes and important seasonal activities and events.

Spinning Tops

In this exciting workshop participants build LEGO spinning tops, collect data on whose design spins the longest, while also learning about the forces that affect their tops performance.

Spin the Gears

Gears, gears, gears! Participants will build a series of models and experiment with gears exploring the difference between drive vs. driven, clockwise vs. counterclockwise, and discover the concepts of effort and force.

Merry Go Round

A fun, hands-on way to get scouts excited about engineering, design, and mathematics. Participants build a LEGO merry-go-round to explore gear ratios then experiment with gear trains to see which combination enables their ride to spin the fastest.

What a Great Experience

Participants will take inspiration from the MINILAND exhibit at LEGOLAND Discovery Center and recount an experience they had in their own city or hometown, building their characters, setting and plot using LEGO elements. They'll also write about their experience using their model as a visual referencing tool and share their story with others.

Digital Photographer

In this workshop, participants will learn about digital cameras and take tons of photographs! Using LEGO Bricks and Mini-Figures, each group will create scenes that they will take photos of. After taking a bunch of photos, the group will choose three to edit and make a digital photo project. Lastly, each group will present their photos to the class.

Comic Artist

This workshop calls for intense creativity! Participants will make their own scenes using LEGO bricks to snap photos for each frame of their comic. They will then edit each photo to make their visual story come to life. By the end of this workshop each participant will have created a unique piece of sequential art.
